Which is faster: Boards or Bikes?

I turned down Grant Street to find a couple bikers just ahead of me. In a hurry, but not looking for a race, I continue pushing, eventually passing both bikers. I know bikes have gears, which makes them more efficient, and converts mechanical motion into acceleration. People tell me all the time that bikes are faster than boards, but I think it all depends on situation. Lance Armstrong will beat me hands down on any flat, and uphill run, but I think I boards are faster when it comes to downhill, high-speeds, and aerodynamics. When it comes to bikes, you can only peddle down hill so fast with minimal control over aerodynamics, while skateboards are only limited to total control of aerodynamics.

I got no problem "beating" an average bike commuter in any situation.
A few times, the chance arose to race a biker, and I always make the pass. Gone. They can peddle all they want, all that work's for nothing.

"But how do you stop on a skateboard?"

Uhg, I'll leave that for another post.
